Ratchford Farms is located just outside Marshall, Arkansas, near the Buffalo River. The Farm has been in the Ratchford Family for generations. It was previously one of the largest strawberry farms in the United States. Today North American Bison roam its hills.

Ratchford Farms is dedicated to preserving the health benefits of eating buffalo. No hormones, steroids or antibiotics are used with its animals. The Bison are handled as little as possible and spend their lives on grass, as they always have, with very little time in the feedlot.

Owner, L. C. Ratchford, claims people are rapidly discovering the deliciously healthy taste of bison/buffalo. “Buffalo meat is similar to fine beef, with just a slightly sweeter and richer flavor. It is naturally flavorful, tender and can be prepared much the same as beef. The value of buffalo is not what you pay, but what you get in return. Nutritionally, you are getting more protein and nutrients with fewer calories and less fat. Buffalo is a dense meat that tends to satisfy you more while you’re eating less. It is lower in fat, calories and cholesterol than chicken, salmon, beef and pork!”

Ratchford, a lover of all animals, frequently steps up to rescue those whose owners have decided they can no longer care for them.  As a result, the Ratchford Farms family steadily grows larger and more diverse. Along with a happy herd of cows, Ratchford Farms is also home to an emu, a llama and an alpaca.
